Chris Koniarczyk
Founder of Tech Addiction Experts Licensed Mental Health & Addictions Counselor
I’m Chris Koniarczyk, a licensed mental health and addictions counselor with more than 14 years of experience working with kids, teens, and families.
I earned my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado Denver and hold licenses in North Carolina and Colorado.
In 2022, I founded Tech Addiction Experts to help parents navigate one of today’s biggest challenges: raising kids in a digital world. Every week, I work with families who are struggling with screens, boundaries, emotional regulation, and the impact technology can have on mental health and relationships.
I also run a private practice, Christopher John Counseling, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where I specialize in working with teens and families.
Tech Addiction Experts was created to offer parents clear, grounded guidance. Not fear-based advice. Not extreme rules. And not one-size-fits-all solutions. Just practical, developmentally informed support that helps families build trust, confidence, and healthier relationships with technology.
Our Mission: Helping Families Build Healthier Relationships With Technology
At Tech Addiction Experts, our mission is simple: to help parents guide their kids toward healthier, more balanced relationships with technology.
Every day, families struggle with screen time battles, smartphone decisions, gaming conflicts, and social media stress. Parents are often left sorting through conflicting advice, extreme opinions, and fear-based messaging while trying to do what’s best for their child.
We help parents cut through the noise.
Our work is grounded in licensed clinical practice and informed by current research on child development, mental health, and digital behavior. We focus on giving families practical tools, clear language, and realistic strategies they can actually use.
We believe in preparation over punishment, connection over control, and guidance over fear.
Our work is designed for parents of kids and pre-teens who want to be thoughtful and proactive about technology, not reactive or fear-driven. The goal is not perfection or total control, but balance, trust, and long-term skills that support emotional development and family connection.
We believe technology can be a positive part of childhood when it’s introduced thoughtfully and guided with intention. That’s why we help families set healthy boundaries, strengthen teamwork, and reduce conflict while preparing kids to grow up in a digital world.
Why Thoughtful Tech Guidance Matters for Kids Today
Technology has changed childhood. Screens are now part of how kids learn, play, socialize, and relax. For many families, they’re also a source of stress, conflict, and uncertainty.
Parents are seeing the effects firsthand: increased anxiety, emotional dysregulation, sleep issues, social pressure, and unhealthy digital habits. At the same time, kids are being asked to manage powerful technology with brains that are still developing.
As a counselor, I’ve worked with countless families navigating these challenges. I’ve seen how overwhelming it can feel to make tech decisions when there’s no clear roadmap and every choice feels loaded.
That’s why Tech Addiction Experts exists. Not to scare parents or push extreme rules, but to offer grounded, developmentally informed guidance that helps families make thoughtful decisions and build skills before problems take over.
This philosophy is the foundation of the Digital Driver’s License program, which helps families prepare kids for technology before access expands and habits take hold.
